Parent Education Series
Below is a list of topics that have been presented in schools, conferences, and workshops that are geared toward groups consisting mainly of parents. These lectures have been done individually or as part of a series. Each topic has been presented numerous times and outcome measures have been used over the past two decades to maximize audience participation, understanding, and enjoyment.
When choosing to do a series, schools have found it easier to present the series under a catchy heading such as “Lunch and Learn Series” or “Coffee Chat Series” so that name recognition and marketing materials (flyers, email, etc.) can be consistent and encourage continued attendance and participation. By being CONNECTED, we will help you design your marketing materials and strategies to increase attendance and motivate parents to get involved.

Snow, BCFE, LPC who does the presentations has over a decade of professional experience in training, teaching, and conducting presentations across the United States. Parenting Classes
What is STEP®?
The Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) ® program has been around since 1976. It is based on the principles of psychology that were introduced by Dr. Alfred Adler in the early 1900’s. Dr. Adler’s approach to psychology was one of teaching, training, and helping people understand by making things clear, concise, and user-friendly. When STEP® was first published, the basic idea was the same … teaching parents how to be more effective in raising their children by helping them understand the basic concepts of child psychology.
For over 30 years, the effectiveness of STEP® has been researched and numerous articles have been published demonstrating the positive impact this program has on families regardless of educational, cultural, or economic differences. STEP® has been shown to change parental expectations, attitudes, and interactions toward children. Research has also demonstrated that incorporating STEP® into already existing programs such as treatment centers, schools, etc. the children are more likely to be successful in their treatment programs and school performance.
Who Is The Presenter?
For over 20 years, Dr. Jason Snow has been one of the leaders in the field of parent education by conducting research on the effectiveness of STEP® and also on how to be effective in teaching the materials to parents from various socio-economic levels. He has implemented parent education courses in prisons, day treatment centers, long-term residential facilities, as well as school settings. Regardless of the challenging settings, Dr. Snow has a proven track record of being successful in delivering education and training to a diversified group of parents. He has been asked to present his research and experience both nationally and internationally and has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
The Program
CONNECTED is proud to offer STEP® (the most effective and well-researched parenting program on the market) to schools, churches, and organizations. Our STEP® Classes are unique because of the modifications that Dr. Snow has made to the program. The course can range from 6 to 10 classes in duration (depending on whether your organization wants to include the additional classes on topics such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) with each class lasting for approximately 90 minutes. Most schools and organizations choose to do one class a week; however, accelerated programs (more than one class a week or fewer/longer classes) can also be arranged.
How We Are Different
When you’re CONNECTED and offering the STEP® program:
Your students’ parents will be experiencing a program that has a documented attrition rate of between 0% and 15%. This means that the parents stay in the program and learn the material that the schools/organizations intend for them to learn initially. Most other parent education programs experience between 30% and 60% attrition before the course is completed.
You will have expert assistance in developing marketing materials and strategies to encourage maximum registration and attendance from your targeted population.
Your students’ parents will experience a unique program that has eliminated the customary video component that is normally part of STEP® and instead will experience an interactive learning environment designed to increase internalization of the material being taught.
Your students’ parents will experience a teaching format that has over two decades of research supporting its effectiveness. Dr. Snow’s presentation style has been featured in numerous scientific studies and has demonstrated impressive results on how to keep clients in the program and learning the materials.
Your students’ parents will be taught more than the subject matter included in STEP®. Our program incorporates the latest research in psychology and neurology to bring cutting-edge information to participants in an easy-to-understand format.
